AH Challenge: Divide the world like the board from RISK!

This might be the challenge to end all challenges...

Risk is pretty much my favorite game of all time and of course, this is my favorite website of all time. I'm bringing them together to increase my enjoyment of the game. With actual alt historical reasons behind the shapes of regions, I will feel far more immersed while I'm kicking ass at RISK.

(The computer I'm using is acting funny, can someone post a map of the classic RISK board?)

POD can be as far back as you deem fit, as it will probably have to be. Obviously, the names of countries don't have to be the same.

Have fun and good luck.

This scenario is very unlikely.
Germany, under alt-WW I is more successful and finds allies in a fascist Italy and Spain which makes what we know of mainland, Scandinavia wins independence from Northern Europe later as a puppet, Iceland and Greenland became independent of the rest of Scandinavia in alt-WW I, Canada formed and then split with a powerful Quebec aided by refugee french men after the war which takes Acadia and the Maritimes, BC never joined Canada pushing the PoD pretty far back, Rupert's Land became a Native Collective (after all you can't get much more of a native screw than OTL), USA is the result of the lawless west being seen as too difficult to colonize and not particularly important, leaving it to a mega-Oregon colony. Central America gained its independence from Spain together, Peru invades Bolivia, Ecuador, and Paraguay. Uruguay and Chile are invaded by Argentina. Australia is the result of two nations colonizing it instead of just England. Russia appears to have had a weird balkanized, there was a very different colonization of Asia and Indonesia/Malaysia/Philippines/New Guinea/Borneo, Mongolia might be a Chinese revolution that gained lots of territory, Africa, Venezuela, and the Mid-East are incredibly unlikely (however the rest is too), maybe Egypt takes Libya and France maintains control of a wanked North African colonization with french refugees.
The North American frontier is multiple PoDs, Colonization of the rest of the World is several other PoDs, earlier (but not too much earlier) WW is another PoD especially including fascist Italy and Spain (Britain would have to remain neutral in it for it to work).

ohhhh, I want to be the purple countries. Only one way to get at them! POD is an ancient Indo-Melanesian-indigenous Australian culture that forms a superstate! ;)

Runaway global warming leads to massive population growth in Canada and Siberia and subsequent balkanization. I'm not sure about how to get an Afghanistan that doesn't actually include Afghanistan, though

The Duranni empire is much more successful and rules for a while from Siberia to the Sind, but later breaks in two. The northern Afghan Empire survives while the south eventually falls to whoever unfies in India, and retains the old name like the Byzantine Empire called itself Rome even after the original city was lost. :)

You know, it would be a lot easier if we could assume some of those blocks are alliances or loose federations rather than unified states and empires. Siberia is the real pain in the ass (Yakutsk??? What was the designer smoking?)

Japan, rather than becoming an insular state in the 18th century, goes all ninja on Korea, Manchuria & Mongolia. It then proceeds to vassel-ize the E. Siberian tribes and repelling the Russian presence thru Mongolian proxies, forming the Siberian puppet states of Kamchatka, Yakutsk and Irkutsk. Or something as unlikely as that.;)
