Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to make an alternate timeline where the majority of the continent of Europe (including Russia up to the Ural mountains, excluding Anatolia) is considered 'developing' or 'underdeveloped'. Since there is no universal definition of 'developing country', I will lay out some:

- Majority of citizens work in the agricultural sector
- Most of the nation should have a lower standard of living compared to 'first world' or 'developed' nations
- The nations GDP should be lower (or slightly above) of the world average
- The nations industrial base is underdeveloped
- Lack of proper facilities for thigns such as health, education, etc.

Some of these nation's governments should also be unstable and short-lived, with civil wars and rebellions considered 'common' in Europe in the eyes of the rest of the world.

In this alternate timeline there should also be a replacement for the 'First World (OTL Europe, North America, and Australia). Where this is does not matter, but the culture and influences of the region should dominate the rest of the world by the present day. For example if the Indian subcontinent were to be the First World region, the world's Lingua Franca would probably be Hindi, Tamil, Sanskrit, or another language from that region.

The POD is January 1st, 1500. Bonus points if:

- At least one European nation manages to keep overseas colonies for the next 50 years or more.
- The Ottoman Empire does not play a major role in Europe in this timeline starting after the POD.

EDIT: Sorry, posted this in After 1900 by mistake
