AH Challenge: Burr the hero

Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to make Aaron Burr a hero of American history. The challenge is in three parts, in increasing order of dificulty:

i) Have Burr defeat Thomas Jefferson to become U.S. President in 1800;

ii) Have Burr go on to be viewed by historians as one of the great Presidents, with a legacy and contribution to American society to support this;

iii) Destroy the career and legacy of Thomas Jefferson (at the expense of Burr) such that Jefferson is remembered unfavourably throughout history after the 1800 election loss.

The earliest possible POD is the inauguration of George Washington as POTUS in 1789.

Good luck!!

Thomas Jefferson intervenes in the French revolution a bit too much and remains in France during the Terror, acknowledging Robespierre as the necessary leader of the country. When he returns to America, the newspapers are filled with his quotes and actions, considered irresponsible by most Americans. He tries to compete in the 1800 elections, but the democrats prefer Burr over him. While Burr reaches a compromise with the Federalists, offering his support for some of their reforms, Jefferson takes to Louisiana where he hopes to get the french on his side in his attempt to revert Burr's policies. The French-American War of 1802-1803 is a great success for the new president: Napoleon gives up the whole territory for a sum of money while Jefferson flees once again America. He remains for the rest of his life in France, never setting foot in a country that considers him a traitor. Meanwhile Burr leaves the office in 1809 after a great 8 year presidency in which he doubled the size of the country and sucedeed in forcing a compromise between the ideas of the Federalists and the Democrats.
