AH challenge: British regime change after defeat

In your judgement, how bad ought Britain to lose a major war, in order to suffer a radical change of its political system and constitution, such as a republican revolution, an authoritarian coup, or a fascist/communist takeover ? Successful Seamammal foreign invasion and occupation of the British Isles are explictly excluded, although conventional bombing or starving with naval blockade of Britain into surrender are not.

I'd imagine that if Germany for whatever reason isn't defeated in WW2 and it and the UK are forced into an uneasy cease fire after years of mutual bombing runs there would be several movements within the UK for political change. It's not too hard imagining one of them gaining widespread popular support and eventually forcing a successful coup. They might be communists or fascists. Either is a possibility. Which one is successful would depend on how much resources Germany is willing to spend supplying the fascists (in secret of course) and how much the Soviets are able to supply the communists (maybe not so much in secret, but certainly not overtly).

Given that wartime governments were running on coalitions with an artificially extended parliament, it would be the best basis for a longer-term change. Prime Ministers, when it comes to it, arre appointed by the king on the basis that they are able to command parliamentary majorities. Given that anyone can be created a lord (look at how it worked with Mandelson) then for example if there were a desire to have a Field Marshal become PM, he would be created an Earl, and then appointed as PM as long as his deputies in the Commons can command a majority there
