East Australia (formerly Portuguese Australia) - The Civil War finally ended in 1994. The new national unity government promised rapid infrastructure development and economic growth. Peace has also meant the rejuvination of the tourism industry. In 2009, millions of tourists arrived to visit the Great Barrier Reef, the rainforests, or to explore Aboriginal culture which is undergoing something of a renaissance. East Australia is the only Australian country where Aboriginal people comprise the majority, and the East Australian Government has been instrumental in negotiating land rights for Aboriginals in other countries.
