AH Challenge: an independent Normandy

How can we get an independent duchy of Normandy (much in the same style as the duchy of Burgundy) which survives until the French revolution, with a POD after 1087?
Also, it has to be a separate state from England.

Awwww.

Well, first we have to look what caused it to become annexed by France in OTL, and perhaps we could remove that.

Failing that, could it perhaps break away from France during the Reformation?

I'm not sure. I was actually thinking, just after I posted this: perhaps we could have it be awarded to a younger son of the king of France after its annexed, just as Brittany and Burgundy were, and then that dynasty eventually becomes very powerful, and well, you know where I'm going with this. ;)

I thought all the Huguenots were in the south of France. Or most of 'em, at any rate.

What about when Cromwell conquers the region during the 17th century and doesn't sell it back to France? Instead, he keeps onto it and when the Restoration gets started, it becomes the refuge for the Cromwellian forces?

What if Napoleon III conquered southen Britain in 1860 and it was kept as a stronghold for him after the French-Prussian War, it's almost as likely as your scenario.
