As the title says: Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to create a scenario in which there's a war between an Islamic country and a Latin America country. Other third world countries may be involved, but something like WWII is out of question, because it would be very easy to have a Latin American state and an Islamic one on oppositing sides. So, no first wordl country should be involved (though they may sympathise with one side or the other).
I'm starting this thread because I'd like to see if a limited war between third world countries located in different continents is possible at all. I've put "islamic country" because I think a war between any
Subsharan country (excpet maybe South Africa*) and a Latin American one would be even more unlikely. I havben't put "African and/or Asian" country because if I had everybody would use China, India, or other great Asian power. I wanted something more "even", and I think a Latin America vs an Islamic country would do it.
So, how could we get something like this to happen after 1900?
*We could even argue that this already happened IOTL, as there was a "war" in which Cubans and South Africans were involved: Angola´s civil war.
