AH Challenge: A regional Dutch Powerhouse in North America

Hallo everyone!
As anyone who saw my first attempt at a Dutch-Wank, Three Colors, One Heart, can tell you, I couldn't for the life of me find a non-ASB way to create a strong Dutch colonial presence in Niew Nederland.

The way that I see it, I need two goals to be acheived for Dutch semi-hegemony:

1: The Dutch are more interested in North America than OTL, and work more to establish a strong presence. (successfully formed by my 1st POD in which Henry Hudson convinces the VOC of the wealth of furs in the region).

2: Keep the English and Brits OUT of their OTL holdings until the Dutch can successfully repel them. (I have NO idea how to pull this part off without handwavium).

So, there's the true challenge: find two POD's as far from ASB as possible in which the above two conditions are met.

Thank you for any help you provide,

~Ash

-Convince the WIC that encouraging settlement of New Netherland will increase the worth of the colony. A change in the board of directors may be required, but there was a serious effort to do just that in the 1640s OTL anyways.

-Establish stronger Dutch-Iriquois relations, and have the WIC explore possibilities with the Wabanaki Confederacy up in Maine (or thereabouts) and the Lenape to the south. A broader network of Indian alliances will help shut out other prospective colonial powers from some lands.

-Get more Dutch (or German, or Norwegian, or anybody, really) colonists.

-Get rid of the patroonships. Introducing a nigh-feudal system in the New World is not a good way to attract settlers.

-Have the WIC attempt to seize Brazil and be beaten swiftly and soundly. If they stop obsessing over Recife, New Amsterdam et al have a better chance of receiving the attention they need to prosper.

-Get more Dutch colonists.

re a regional Dutch power house

One have the English fleet that sailed into the Hudson sunk by great storm. So the the English under York do not take over the city. Also need to have a few more Dutch ships arrive with supplies and arms.

Well, the Dutch would have to be beaten out to the more immediately valuable colonies they focused on, quickly and decisively enough to dissuade any attempts to take them back, not sure how this would happen though.

and yeah, they'd need significant numbers of colonists, otherwise the best they could possibly get is the French result OTL, hopelessly outnumbered by the real settler colonies.
