That's right - instead of preserving Eastern Christian civilisation and Chalcedonian Orthodoxy (in other words, the Byzantine Empire), the sole purpose of this challenge is to create a more or less plausible Latin Empire that:
1) takes out all the remaining "little empires", i.e. the Greek Orthodox successor states of the Byzantine Empire that are trying to retake Constantinople.
They don't have to be destroyed - they just need to be "persuaded" to give up their intentions to restore the Empire, just like Trebizond did in OTL after the Nicaeans had conquered Constantinople.
2) retains at least the western coast of Anatolia and the area of the Sea of Marmara.
3) lasts until at least 1800 AD.
Bonus goals:
- Iconium becomes part of the Latin Empire. Wether it is conquered by the Latin Empire, or wether it is conquered by the Crusaders and later made part of the Latin Empire doesn't matter.
- the Latin Empire lasts until the modern age.
- the Latin Empire conquers the better part of Anatolia.
- the Latin Empire includes/absorbs the Crusader kingdoms of the Levant at some point.
- the Latin Empire takes Jerusalem and holds on to it.
- there's a more or less stable Crusader state in Lower Egypt.
Final note: the earliest possible POD of this scenario is 1st of January 1090,
so there's plenty of opportunity to use POD's involving the earlier Crusades etc.
