Back in 2002, a German historian had discovered a document in the German
Archives that outlined a possible German invasion of the United States. This
document was part of the German Winter Plans, drawn up by Lieutenant Eberhard von Mantey, of the Imperial German Navy, on the orders of Kaiser
Wilhelm II of Germany. These plans were under consideration right up until the end of World War II. In fact, there's a book about it. Target America by James P. Duffy. According to a History Channel special, and this is backed up by the German Archives, in 1958, a German historian was going through the National Archives when he found something odd. It was sent to Germany to be authenticated. This was in the early 1980s, just as the Hitler Diaries scandal was coming to light. So to make sure this book was the real thing, the German
Archives subjected it to several tests. One of them being a flourecent light.
Why? Because paper made after about 1920, floureces. The book turned out to be authentic. It was a copy of Hitler's unpublished second book. In this book, Hitler had proposed an invasion of the United States no later than 1980. However, in the Winter Plans, the Kaiser wanted an invasion of the United States any time between the late 1880s, and the early 1900s. How would you, if you were Kaiser Wilhelm II, actually go about planning, and executing, an invasion of the United States, knowing that its army and navy
are little more than paper tigers?
