AH Challege: Bushes As Republican Kennedys

This has been on my mind for a while since the more I look at the Bush's for my future JFK TL venture (they'll make an appearance, or at least one may), the more they do look like parallels of the Kennedys (at least superficially). They had power, wealth, and an ambition that -believe it or not- rivaled or perhaps surpassed by a bit even the Kennedy's, and poppa seemed to want his children to carry on a torch. So George H.W. could parallel Joe Sr, and JEB and George Jr. John and Bobby (or maybe Joe Jr. and Jack). However, such parallels remain rather loose in the OTL.

So my challenge is, with a POD post 1964 (the start of George Sr.'s political career) to have the Bush's resemble the Kennedy family's path as closely as possible.

Well, that would require a Nixon Presidency, which would mean that Nixon would have to win in 1968. Alternatively GHWB wins the Senate seat in '70, and might try to succeed the term-limited Bobby in 1980/4 (because he won't try an Act of Succession in '68). Assume Bush Sr. is in until 1988, then GWB is elected Texas Gov. in 1990, and becomes President in 1996 . Jeb is appointed AG and will try to succeed Dubya in 2004. Admittedly, both Dubya and Bobby were proponents of the Imperial Presidency, used heavy does of executive power, and had relatively few close advisors.

I don't think it'd require a Nixon Presidency from 1960 to 1968 as the Bushes were rather like the Kennedys as stated above as is. Basically, I myself would break the Bushes up into the following sects and parallels:

Bush Sr.: A politician of limited successes whose career was snuffed out before he could achieve the Presidency as he appeared to want. Perhaps given an Ambassadorship ala the OTL, but achieving little more past that and fading out of the spotlight, thus betting on his sons to carry on a political legacy.

George Jr.: One of three things. Either, he manages to achieve success and the Presidency thanks to his father's backing and shrewd politicking, or he's a failure at politics either not being able to achieve office or sticking to his day job in non-political areas, thus representing Joe Jr in a way as he's out of the spot light. Or, he goes into politics, but doesn't manage as great a success as JEB, thus taking the figurative "Attorney General" seat in a JEB administration (whatever that may be in actuallity).

JEB: Depending on how it's spun, JEB could either fill a kind of John or Bobby role. He could either be far more successful a politician than his brother, as stated above, and achieve the Presidency thus making daddy proud. Or, he himself could end up following a President George Bush Jr. in the figurative "Attoney General" post. To quote George W. himself, JEB did what George said all his life. That could either represent Jack and Bobby or Joe and Jack.

*****

But that's just my opinion and leaves out a lot of how such things would come to be and all that detail.

What I'm interested in here too are the other Bushes since I think there are two other brothers who could be worked into a parallel political landscape as well.

Well how about this? I mean, it was mainly the result of my Grandpa being confused and substituting the names of modern politicians into his memories of the 1960s, but it isn't completely implausible. It contains W as JFK, Jeb as RFK, Cheney as LBJ, Gore as Nixon, Kerry as Goldwater, McCain as Humphrey, Iraq as Veitnam, etc.
