AH Challange: Luoyang Patriarchate

Alright, I always wanted to do one of these. Let's see if it works.

POD can be anytime after AD 90, but a 93*10^9 bonus points if it is after AD 330.

Your mission is to have an Eastern Patriarchate in Luoyang, China. There must be a sufficient number of Chinese Christians to make this Patriarchate influential in Chinese politics. To keep things interesting, Roman Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy must be recognizable throughout the time line.

  • A googol bonus points if other Christian denominations remain recognizable.
  • A googolplex bonus points if this Patriarchate is as influential in Chinese politics as the Patriarch of Constantinople was in Byzantine Politics.
  • A Graham's number of bonus points if this Patriarchate is initially eastern and returns to communion with the Bishop of Rome before AD 1500.
  • And if by some miracle, you can make India a majority Christian and under the authority of the Luoyang Patriarchate, then you win incredible kudos and probably should get a Turtledove for your trouble :D.
...and GO! (Remember no ASB. The primary objective is crucial; the bonus points are to see how creative you can be).

Why on earth Luoyang in particular? Without googling it, I would assume it's the OTL site of somebody...

Kind of went overboard on the numbering, eh?

...and GO!
How many stones handicap? and can we use Japanese scoring?

Anyway. To address the actual challenge, I think your best bet is likely Nestorian Christians converting Mongols, who then invade China, leading to a Nestorian (led, at least) China. OTOH, the Patriarch would almost certainly be in Beijing. You didn't say it had to be Chalcedonian Greek Orthodoxy:) If the Emperor and court are all Christian, then the Patriarch will have loads of power, almost as much as the Patriarch of Constantinople has, or as some of the OTHER ministers of the government have.

Well, a small area with a population majority of Saint-Thomas Christians is possible - if just so - far East, say, in Bengal, or on the fringes of the Chinese sphere of influence.

But in the very center of China, and so far away?

Moreover, in this case it's rather improbable that it would take the form of a "Patriarchate" as known in the West.

Side note:
Perhaps you could give f(n,n) point for the Partriarchate, where n is the distance from Jerusalem if restricted to circles of latitude and f is the Ackermann function?

;) ;) Just sayin' ...

True, this would make China Christian, at least until the next dynasty takes power. Though I wanted it to be Chalcedonian Greek Orthodoxy, I still award you 90! points for your effort, which would meet the desired goal if the dynasty lasts long enough.

The true reason is because it is a big city in central China, and the Luoyang Patriarchate was the substance of an interesting conversation I had recently...

I need to justify my knowledge of big numbers at sometime, I suppose :).

That's what makes it a challenge :D.

Ah, math jokes. Always good.

I could do that... but then I would actually need to write a program to do everyone's scoring. Besides, if I wanted to make the scoring arbitrarily large, I would just use the Ackermann function with A(G*n,2) :p.

But I actually want that Patriarchate to resemble the Patriarchate of Constantinople in creed and structure. Perhaps a POD of 90 AD is to late :(.
