ah challange: italian solo victory?

i think the naval aspect in 1940 is overrated... the brits still have to worry about a german seaborne invasion first and foremost... in terms of easing supplies i suggested the italians only have a force of approx 100k men in libya
this would actually be easier to supply than the 200k they had at the start of the campaign.
the brits had almost zero aircraft in this theatre in 1940 because they had bob going on. a kept together and decently managed cvt could break through the two divisions they had guarding egypt especially if they had air superiority.
give them a few german advisors a la the condor legion and it could be made to work if it was done quickley
graziani was sooo slow that he gave the brits time to muscle up and crush him he would have to go

But you were arguing that italians could not win even if the british left the area, an idea that is not only incredibly wrong, but even incredibly stupid.

I'm sure glad you're not angry about this whole thing. ;)

That said, I would like to say that Italians as a whole are not morons. Under Mussolini, they were lead by morons, and they had a relatively moronic high command who consistently made moronic decisions with obvious consequences. That's a harsh burden for any country to struggle with, no matter how capable and dedicated the people.

And to be perfectly fair, a lot of the Italian leaderships and decision makers between 1870 and 1930 were morons, and they made a number of decisions which were incredibly damaging and costly to Italy in the short and long term. That's also a harsh burden to live with.

But hey, let's not fight. I'm happy to say that you're right.

If Britain decided to bug out completely and withdraw all forces in the Mediteranean and Mediteranean bordering colonies and possessions, then Italy has a chance to win in north africa.
