Suppose that instead of the state of Qin unifying China under Shi Huangdi, another state succeeds in doing that. Perhaps the state of Yan that possessed a similar geographic situation to Qin (IOW on the fringes of Chinese society) unifies China. The next part of the challenge is to have Mohism become the basis of Chinese society instead of Confucianism. Might this in later periods, assuming that the *Han Dynasty equivalent decides to build on it, not lead to a future Industrial Revolution in China? After all, Mohism had the makings of early empiricism.

How might this change the course of Chinese history, and ultimately, world history?
