In an unknown time, people from Sumatra established the City of Tundun[1] and established the Kingdom of Katagalugan in Manila Bay, the people of Selurong[2] remembered the immigrants from Sumatra as gods or Anito, the languages of the Pampanga River and Cagayan Valley were influenced by the migrants of the Sumatra.

During the reign of Rajaraja Chola I and his successors Rajendra Chola I, Virarajendra Chola and Kulothunga Chola I the Chola armies invaded Sri Lanka, the Maldives and some parts of Southeast Asia like Malaysia, Indonesia and Southern Thailand of the Srivijaya Empire in the 11th century. Rajaraja Chola I launched several naval campaigns that resulted in the capture of Sri Lanka, Maldives and the Malabar Coast. In 1025, Rajendra Chola launched naval raids on ports of Srivijaya and against the Burmese kingdom of Pegu, and conquered parts of Srivijaya in Malaysia and Indonesia and the Tambralinga kingdom in Southern Thailand and occupied it for some time. A second invasion was led by Virarajendra Chola, who conquered Kedah in Malaysia of Srivijaya in the late 11th century.

People from Sri Vijaya migrated to the Empire centered in Tundun in large numbers.

The people of Selurong described themselves as River people, a chinese came to Tundun and learned one of the languages of Selurong and learned that the people of Selurong described themselves as River People, the The Chinese earlier described the Kingdom as Mayi but when that Chinese relayed to other people and told them that the name of the island should be Land of the Rivers or River Land.

The chinese start to refer the island as JiangGuo or Kawagoku for the Japanese meaning country of the Rivers.
