The Low countries after the Peace of The Hague 1709.
The Treaty of The Hague, ended the War of the Spanish Succession in more than favorable terms for the Dutch Republic.
The Dutch get their Barrier cities and forts and former Spanish Guelders as was agreed in 29 October 1709.( Green and Blue stars with orange center) and additional demands of the Dutch which included Dunkirk, Gravelines and some other forts ( Green and blue stars pale center) and the County of Loon form the Prince Bishop of Liege-Koln. At the start of the conflict the Prince Bishop allied him self with Louis XIV, but due to the progress of war he had to fled first to Bonn and, then Lille and a the the end to Arras.
The last was brokered between the Dutch and the French as presented as a fait a comli to the other Allies. In return Louis XIV was re-leaved of the demand towards Philips to take sole responsibility, in men and money, for driving Philip V from Spain.

The Battle of Oudenaarde which was true Cannae and the lost of Lille. The next year, the Frenc could only field a less experience army, added with household regiments. At battle of Malplaquete the French weakened their right flank after the retreat of, the feint attack of the Dutch troops under Prince John William Friso, in order to reinforce the French Left which was under heavy pressure of Schullenburg.
The Dutch however resumed their attack, and now for real, on the French right flank after the successful capture of the Blaron farm which lay strategic in front of the French line. Part of the allied left also attacked more to the extreme left of the French line. The weakened French right was pushed back and an opening emerged for the Allied Horse. Confusion in the Frecnh command on this crucial moment due to the wounded commander Duc de Villars and later his second in command Duc de Bouflers, caused the collaps of the Frenc lines and eventual a massive route. The battle was a disaster for the French, with extreme losses. Important for the Dutch was their losses were not higher than 30% which mean the armies under their command remained capable for future battles and campaigns.

Prussia become the biggest loser, since it not only lost the promised spoil of Spanish-Guelders but it lost also the diplomatic fight around the inheritance of King William III of Orange.
With extensive help of Willem Buys, John William Friso the Stadholder of Frisia and Groningen, and one of the cousins of Willaim would inherit the County of Moers, Lingen and the Places of Rijswick and Hoensbroeck, large country houses close to The Hague. He also was made responsible for the large depbts of his late uncle.The title Prince of Orange remained a dispute for decades between the King in Prussia the King of France and the House of Nassau.
