after russo-japanese war question

ok i'm not really interested in what would need to happen to have Russia win the Russo-Japanese War but say Russia did what it needed to do to get to that ability & defeated japan. i wanna know what changes that a Russian vitory would have on the world & the two countries?

Japan wouldn't be undefeated and thus, probably wouldn't begin attacking all western nations.

Also, seeing as Japan was the first eastern nation to defeat a European great power this could prevent a lot of the colonial wars that were caused by eastern nations gaining western weapons and tactics.

Definitely no pearl harbor.

Given the amount of money Japan would have spent on losing, its quite likely that there would have been severe political upheaval within Japan, which could have gone either way, left or right, but would have weakened Japan in the short-term. However, when you see how far they had come by 1904, it seems unlikely that it would have destabiilised them in the long-term. A note though, would be that Korean independence would have been more secure, though this would depend longer term on whether Russia tried to make a protectorate out of them.

It's also worth mentioning that due to a Russian victory, and the fact that a patriotic victory which would restore confidence in the Tsar was a major war goal, a lot of the upheaval of 1905 is averted. You also butterfly away a lot of the Tsar's minor reforms; Potentially, you also butterfly away the military reforms that Russia undertook before WWI (though I don't believe it quite finished those), potentially weakening Russia overall in WWI.

The alliance with Britain is finished, as the Japanese will only do what is necessary to defend the Home Islands and Formosa. Also with this defeat the concept of having an asian navy defend Australia and New Zealand is thoroughly descredited so the Royal Navy will have to maintain significant forces in the area nomatter what the situation in the North Sea is. Could see earlier and greater development of the dominion navies.
