Let's say the Soviets win quickly in Afghanistan. What happens next?
For the sake of argument, say the Soviets have completely defeated the Afghani rebels by 1982, and are in complete control, having suffered moderate, but not crippling, losses. What do they do next? What does this do to the West? It certainly boosts confidence in the former, and lowers it in the latter. But what are the efects, both short- and long-term?
