Is there any way that 'Natives' could have gained more Civil and Political rights from the War in South Africa?
It may surprise you to learn that the Cape Colony had a completely colour-blind franchise from 1853 onwards: here's Winston Churchill explaining that in 1902 there were 19,505 coloured voters on the rolls. It's only after 1909, when there's a Boer majority in the Union of South Africa, that things start to change.Honestly, is the Apartheid and the ideas behind all responsible to Boers, or anglo-saxons and british colonials and rulers had a responsability?
Scratch and Bite. Gonff will dine on CHEESE and WINE,when he gets home tonight!
I have though of a better idea. What if the racists that strengthened the Klu Klux Klan, in Our Timeline, were made to go into the army and were all sent to France?
Now, let us not forget that racism was a part of the Empire's ideas too... Peoples forget how by example Churchill spoke of this by example when he was in the army (I think) facing some insurection in Africa, and said with a glee that they 'would be reaped like wheat'....
