Now I saw that there was a post about a North American map game a page or so down, and I realized that I haven't seen one on this board in a long time. So the rules of this game are pretty simple: make up nations in Africa with a POD no later than 1400 C.E. They can be world powers, but they can't be so ridiculously big that it cramps the game for everyone else. People can repost after five other people have posted under them.

Let's start off with this:

Official Name: Republic of Kaapstad
Government: Constitutional Republic
Common Name(s): Kaapstad, Capeland
Capital: Kaapstad
Language: Afrikaans(Various Dialects), English, Creolized Hottentot
Head of State: President Paulus Albertyn
Population: Estimated 5 Million
Religion: Christianity(Various Denominations)(94%), Judaism(2%), Islam(2%), Other Religions(Prominently Hinduism)(2%)
Founding Date: 1964 A.D
Economy: First World
Brief History: The Cape has long been home to a hodgepodge of peoples brought by migration, slavery, or the desire to build new lives and new riches. First settled by the Portuguese, then the Dutch, then the English, the white settlers of the Cape engaged in frequent battles with the black nations around them. By 1950 they controlled most of Southern Africa and held the Africans in bondage, but armed insurgencies and open war from the powerful nation of kwaZulu wore them down enough to relinquish their system of segregation and discrimination. By 1964 A.D these Afrikaners were so beleagured that they conceded their territories to indigenous nations and retreated to an area around their ancestral home of Cape Town, which was rechristened Kaapstad to celebrate their Dutch origins. Now composed mostly of Afrikaners, with a large majority of mixed-race Coloureds, Kaapstad has become relatively liberal and unoffensive, though it has had to defend its sovereignity from marauders from farther afield.
