advice on a timeline structure, anyone?

So i've been thinking for a while and i've came to the conclusion that i should try to do my own timeline.
I've got the main idea set and most of the main events envisioned , though i won't divulge any of it right now, but there's still a main issue i've come accross. I have no idea on how exactly to structure it.
So i've a compiled a list of ways to write it and i'm asking you which way i should go. Also if you've got a new idea, i'd be glad to hear it.
  1. A series of short intervals (1-3 months), similar to the Great War Channel. I like this one the best as it allows me to go in depth on every event. I'm thinking this is the most paletable option as i can adjust it to many styles and perspectives, such as it being a series of news articles, or part of an alt-history book
  2. A series of longer intervals( 1-5 years), basically the same as 1 but less in depth
  3. A classic series of entries of only dates and events.
  4. A more novel-esque option. Though i'm prolly a horrible writer i'm intrigued by the idea of writing something like that. Maybe in the form of an anthology of chronicles.
Also note that i won't write anything as posts. What i will do is post everything as a pdf, as the forum's writer is horrible. Even as i was writing this it froze 3 times.

I think this should go on the writers forum.

But if you want my advice (as someone who hasn't published any TLs on this site currently) I have to say the intervals are really dependent on how long your proposed TL will be. Obviously a TL which lasts a decade or less is going to be a lot easier to get into the detail on, but if you want one which lasts a century or longer, an update for every few months is going to be far too much work.

Personally, I am not a big fan of the whole 'dates and events' formats, which seems to be a little unprofessional, and doesn't really offer the opportunity for a more in depth analysis of what is happening. Other than that, I'm fine with most other forms of TLs, and I'd say I especially like ones which vary their formats a bit, so they move between historical narrative, news reports, interviews, etc.
