Hello.
I am just wondering what would be the prerequisites for an advanced Australian Aboriginal civilization developing, when I say advanced I mean India or China's level of sophistication, a settled society (as opposed to a nomadic one).
I understand that the Australian Aborigines never developed a settled civilization because they were nomads who moved from place to place to find sources of water and food. What if they settled down and started a civilization similar to the ones in Asia? There would have to be a plant of some kind (yams perhaps) which they could cultivate plus sources of water.
Is Australia's geography and climate an obstacle too great to allow an advanced settled civilization to evolve? If not how could a settled Aboriginal civilization emerge?
