Admiral Graf Spee sunk by carrier aircraft

Shamelessly grabbed from a suggestion on Warships1....

Amongst the ships searching for the Graf Spee were aircraft carriers, what effect would the Graf Spee being sunk by carrier aircraft have this early on in the war?

It will demonstrate that carrier based aircraft have a good chance of sinking single unaccompanied warships on the high seas. Which just may be the only time it happens.

There may be a ripple effect with Force Z may be additional carriers, tho Prince of Wales and Repulse were sunk by land based aircraft IIRC.

I agree, if the RN could sink a heavy warship with planes alone it may give the RN brass the push it needed to get more carriers in the water, and include them with every heavy warships force. It may also butterfly away several key naval events involving carriers and capital ships in Norway and the Med in the next 18 months.
