ACW Twist

I saw a posting for another English intervention in the civil war and noted how quick it was shot down as having been done to death. But I was wondering has anyone done a TL or thought about if the English intervened for the North. I would require a lot of changes leading up to the war, or one horrific event committed by the South, but I was wondering if anyone had done one?

I think it defeats the purpose. The South was fighting a much larger opponent anyways. Without intervention, the South needs to win a large string of victories to lower either Union army morale, or the North's willingness to fight. The soutnh was facing an uphill battle from the start.

But if you add in the worlds premier super-power at the time, AGAINST them rather than aiding them, the south will likely seek peace terms on its own much sooner. The south would stand no chance.

Now, the thing to really ask, is does the British literally form an alliance with the North against the South, or does the British simply decide to intervene, regardless of what the North thinks or feels. Scenario one brings a very swift end to the civil war...

Scenario two takes a much more interesting turn...
