ACW- British intervene with Indian Army ?

OK, in line with all the foreign intervention in ACW posts- is there any way that, with a hypothetical British intervention, & despite the recent public memory of the Indian Mutiny, the redcoats would've included Indian sepoys ? What about the CS reaction ?

Well, I'd imagine if they were to be used, they'd see service in California rather than anywhere else. 67th will see us right, my meandering notwithstanding.

Yes, discussions around that time included an army corps from British India (15-20,000 men) landing in San Francisco, as well as the Indian Army providing for garrisons of Esquimault, and Hawaii if necessary. The Indian component was to largely be Sikhs and Gurkhas.

An example might be the Chinese expeditionary force of 1860:

LG Sir Hope Grant, commanding

Cavalry Brigade
BG Prattle
4th Dragoon Guards
1st Sikh Cavalry (Probyn's Horse)
2nd Sikh Cavalry (Fane's Horse)

1st Division
MG Sir John Mitchell

1st Brigade
BG Staveley
1/1st Royals
31st
15th Sikh Infantry

2nd Brigade
BG Sutton
1/2nd Queen's
2/60th Rifles
15th Punjab Native Infantry

2nd Division
MG Sir Robert Napier

3rd Brigade
BG Jephson
1/3rd Buffs
44th
8th Punjab Native Infantry

4th Brigade
BG Reeves
67th
99th
19th Punjab Native Infantry

Plus a large artillery force, a Marine battalion, an engineer coy and of course, in this case, a French Division
