Alternate Broadcasting Union - ABU Eurovision 2016

I decided I want to try this out after the success of multiple AHFA football championships. I have a fairly good idea on how this will all work, so welcome to the first hopefully annual Alternate Broadcasting Union Eurovision 2016. This is the first time (I hope) that anybody has attempted this style of game past Sports, so lets set something going here aye? ;)

So, how exactly is this going to work you ask? Pretty much like the AHFA championships!

Stage 1 – Creating the nations. This will come with the history in Eurovision (where they've placed in the past 5 years PLUS the Genre of the song). Include a map and flag, though it's not 100% necessary (if you say where is claimed by the country). Like in the AHFA, feel free to go as wild as you want! Have Venice compete against the Shetland Islands! We won't be picking artists quite yet, that will be stage 3!

Stage 2 – Organizing the event. As with all good events, it needs organizing. If everything works out in Stage 1, we should have a list of where all the nations placed last year. Of course we cannot have 10 winners..maybe 2 winners. I'll allow draws a lot more easily than 2 winners though, for your information. So then we say, “lets host our event there, in that country!” We need to pick where what venue it will be in, so that will be all of Stage 2 if it goes smoothly.

Stage 3 – The Acts. Much like Qualifications for the AHFA, first we need to figure out who will be playing the main event. Nobody is going to be dropped out, but we will now select from our nations the act that will represent them. Doesn't matter if it's internally selected or through a public-vote. Now here is where it gets tricky. This is how we will do the acts;

Name:
Song:
Genre:
Artist's Popularity: (Out of 10)

Side Note: In this stage, I expect people to start laying out their updates in news-format. I would like to see news articles or go the full 9-yards and actually cover the entire public-selection programme. I would suggest you make up your acts from scratch, there's not usually big names on a show like Eurovision, so no Elvis' or Micheal Jacksons.

Stage 4 - The Show. From the form from Stage 3, I can work out internally the vote from each nation, at which point I will give send out on a daily basis like in AHFA, the votes from a country. These will add up bit by bit like in proper Eurovision, until we have our winner. And then we all kick back with a nice beverage and call it a good day's work.

Hope this makes much sense and interests people. It can be a nice fun laid back game, and something I would really enjoy working out internally.

And just to get the ball rolling, here is the first nation to be in the ABU Eurovision Song Contest 2016. Also I should note, we're aiming at 20-24 countries participating, so I'll cut off the entries when we reach that area.

Thanks Matthew, I had to move a few of those results as they clashed with previous entries. It hasn't changed dramatically though and Scandinavia remains a favourite so far.

Darn, I was going to propose the Gaidhealtachd (Scottish Highlands and Islands).

If there was more interest and people submitting nations. But sadly I don't imagine there's anything that can help towards that. If people ain't interested, then can't really make them interested.

So is there any last minute or newly discovered interest before I confine this to the pits of obscurity?

I think this is a great idea, but for me the timing is wrong, as I should soon be very busy doing the alt euros. Best of luck though, I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this thread.

Would you be interested in creating a Eurovision timeline? That might gain more interest for things project so that when that TL is over or when Eurovision 2017 comes around, people will want this.
