A world without the Philippines

A world without the Philippines

Point of Divergence

On 1513, the Ternatean wife of Ferdinand Magellan gives birth to a healthy son, the wife tells Magellan to stay in Ternate and never leave her.

Due to this, the Portuguese and the later unified Iberia and the Habsburg were able to monopolize the trade to the orient.

The birth of this child would change the history forever, Charles V would not have means to find a route to the indies…at this point of time, the people of the Land of Gold[1] are under Bruneian yoke and the minor states in it were under Bruneian vassalage and it gets gold from the mountains of that land while the Visayan states are warring with each other.

The people of the Golden Land want to end the Bruneian yoke and the extraction of gold in their land.

1. Former name of Luzon.

Attack of Limahong

When ships from China came to Manila bay, Lakandula would remove the sails and rudders of their ships until they paid him duties and anchorage fees, and then he would then buy up all their goods himself, paying half its value immediately and then paying the other half upon their return the following year. In the interim, he would trade these goods with peoples further upstream and all over the archipelago, the end result being that other locals were not able to buy anything from the Chinese directly, but from Lakandula, who made a tidy profit as a result.

On 1570, Limahong sacked Manila and expelled the Bruneians ruling Tondo causing a brief war between the rulers of the Kingdom of Tondo and the pirates who wanted it but the pirates won against the forces of Sulayman and Lakandula

The Kingdom of Tondo had become fragmented due to the fact that the Kingdom’s capital was sacked by Limahong and the Kingdom gradually lost its integrity and its constituent Kingdoms namely, Kumintang, Namayan, Malolos and Bikol became independent polities and the Bruneians lost their control in Kota Selurong due to the crumbling of the Kingdom of Tondo, the chinese resettle the site of the former Kota Selurong.

Due to the Destruction of the Kingdom of Tondo, Brunei lost its gold supply and would start to crumble as well

At this point there are these polities in the Island of Gold after the destruction of the Kingdom of Tondo

-Aparri
-Pangasinan/Kaboloan
-Malolos
-Namayan
-Tondo
-Kumintang
-Bikol
-Pirate Kingdom of Manila

The island would take time to recuperate from the people that conquered the capital of the Kingdom of Manila.

One of the sons of Ferdinand Magellan and his wife ended up in the Bruneian court as one of the advisors of the Sultan of Brunei, his name was Alfonso and converted a part of the Bruneian court and converted some of the people of Brunei to Christianity.
