Hmm. I don't know. I thought the British would have trouble putting ships on the shallow-er american coast.

Scratch that, I don't really know enough to say much. Uhh, stalemate, maybe?

This war would be two separate wars rolled together rather than an actual world conflict. One "side" could be victorious in one shore of the Atlantic but defeated on the other.

The Americans and Prussians are officially declaring support for each other, but de facto you're right.

Also, I forgot to mention that Italy hops in to gobble up the parts of Austria it got IOTL in the Austro-Prussian War, but they otherwise do rather little.

If Italy does that then France will overrun her and she knows it. Not to mention Naples has been barely annexed, its people is not that loyal to the House of Savoy and it is easy to break off with Franco-British support from the sea. Italy has no choice but to remain neutral.

Probably, but I figured that France would be too busy with the Germans.

Well, what Germans? If France invades first you could see a nationalistic rallying around Prussia but if France merely intervenes in an Austro-Prussian conflict then the Germans are divided 50/50. Prussia and its allies will have to take care of Austria, while fending off a French invasion from the SW and a possible British expeditionary force to assist Hannover. I'll say France can spare some troops to link with Austria - while Italy is certainly in no position to fight a two-front war.

Would depend on the exact circumstances but presuming some US CW becoming virtually universal I would have to said the probability would be on the British lead alliance. For the following reasons:

a) Prussia that early couldn't really take on both Austria and France, even without British pressure as well. Russia might be able to expand the conflict if it could commit forces early enough but its still reeling from the Crimean conflict and was heavily outclassed there.

b) Britain's naval dominance means that the union would be very isolated and with limited railway networks in Europe so would be Italy and to a degree the Prussia-Russian block as movement by sea would be very difficult for the enemy but much easier for the allies.

c) France is the 2nd industrial power in the world at the period and Britain leads it by a considerable way. This not only provides a clear technological lead but also an economic/financial one, to give the ability to wage a long war.

I meant North Germans.

My money is on Britain going neutral.

This.

I'm not sure how the alliances were set up in your TL concept, but in mine it goes something more like this:

CSA, Spain, France, Austria, Mexico

vs.

USA, Prussia, German States, Russia, Italy

Britain remains neutral until the latter gains a significant advantage, then throws their support for the US to end the war.

USA-Prussia/North Germans-Russia-Mexican Republic

vs.

CSA-Britain-France-Austria/South Germans-Mexican Empire

Hmm...

Russia piles onto Austria with... marginal success, but ties up a lot of troops. Prussia kicks German Statelets to the curb, but France is on the move so it's gonna be interesting, though they also have the *crapsack* Italians bugging them. Meanwhile, Britain is pestering the Russians across the board, while landing some troops to aid the French/Germans against Prussia - though at the same time putting a great deal of effort into burning Washington D.C. for the 2nd time with Confederate help. The US will bleed themselves attacking the Confederates via the Shenandoah for a while (as per OTL) while also attempting to deal with a Royal Navy and Canadians. No one outside of Mexico is going to be doing shit inside of Mexico until their scarier enemies are dealt with... except maybe Napolean III...

Or better still...
