A WI about modern Danish succession

Suppose for a moment that both of the Danish prince (later King) Christian, Frederick and Knud, die either in childbirth or at an early age, and that no new ones are born - Knud was born in 1900. Perhaps this is due to either Christain's or Alexandrine's depression over loosing two children so close together. Then suppose that he dies much earlier than he did IOTL; perhaps he is assassinated in 1920 due to his unpopularity following his support for the failed annexation of Flensberg (why butterflies didn't effect this event, I don't know, but bear with me please), or perhaps there's an auto or train accident that kills him. It doesn't matter overmuch. Who then becomes King of Denmark?

What effects, if any, does this person have?

Just 4 hours and you have to be convincing!!!

The natural choice of successor would be Prince Carl, but he became King of Norway 1905. That would not do any harm to our country!

If Carl (actually Christian Frederik Carl Georg Valdemar Axel) is found to not be able to get the Norwegian throne things might become interesting - see the 1905 dissolving of Norwegian-Swedish Union thread. Link

Christian 10 second brother Harald or third Gustav could then be considered filling the Norwegian plea, but their position would be outweighed by Carl due to his British wife!
As things developed OTL in this ATL Carl might very much still go to Norway leaving Harald or Gustav to succeed Christian.

If Harald is named successor and goes on to his OTL marriage this may be seen as a detriment if things proceed as OTL and Helene Adelheid have expressing her pro-German sentiments during (if) WWII. That would possibly serve to a discussion of the Monarchys role at the time of liberation in 1945.
Harald would I suppose have to abdicate in favour of his son Gorm. Gorm would then have to marry to produce an heir. At the time of his death it was rumoured that he might have been homosexual - but arrangements have been made through the ages when it comes to secure the succession which could call for Harald second son Oluf who didn't marry untill 1948 OTL but morganatic which in this ATL wouldn't happen.

Depending on developments in society we might see a Danish Republic sometime in the 1970'ties or 80'ties.

The other possibility was the fourth brother Gustav but he died OTL October 5. 1944.

BTW: I don't really see an assasination of Christian based on the failed annexation of Flensburg - it would probably target Scavenius, the Foreign Minister due to his unvillingness to go forward claiming any part of territory ceded 1864 due to the political circumstances post WWI.
If you would argue any dethroning/assassination of Christian it should be part of the Easter Crisis 1920 following the second zone referendum of Slesvig when he used the extremely theoretical right of the Monarch to dismiss government!
