I just read this on the wikipedia article on the Vietnamese air force:

And if it is what could come of it if the US had allowed the planes to be exported?
The things I find interesting are that (a) the Vietnamese were thinking of shifting from their longterm supplier, Russia, to a Western source of arms, and that (b) they were buying from France, the colonial power they had defeated forty years before.
In 1996, VPAF tried to procure 2 squadron of Dassault Mirage 2000 fighter from France, but the transaction was cancelled due to United States arms embargo.
