A Video Game POD

Very interesting post! I'm not going to quote it because it's so long...

I think TTL's "ST" would have more in common with the Miner-designed Amiga than the OTL ST, wouldn't it? Not sure the ST brand would be used, as that's rumored to be a subtle reference to "Sam Tramiel"... though of course it officially meant "16/32" in reference to the mentioned Motorola chips.

Probably, the Motorola brass probably would have greenlighted Miner's design where Warner didn't. Thus, Miner doesn't leave and probably works with Jobs on the project.

Doubt they'd go with the Mac all-in-one design, but I think the machine they produce, on-balance, would probably combine the best design aspects of both the Amiga and Mac.

As to the name...maybe Miner gets the honors of naming it and it ends up The Atari Amiga Personal Computer.

OTL, a projected 1850XLD was actually called Amiga, so, it just might happen.

Speaking of, Apple was strapped for cash in '91, maybe Nintendo could have bought them? After all, the designs of the Wii and the Mac laptops seem similar to me.

Actually, I think I read somewhere that something like that almost happened.

I may be wrong, but I think it was considered but never got past the Nintendo boardroom or some feelers sent out to Apple.

That would be a very interesting union of companies. I wonder how that would affect both their computer designs and their game system designs. Also, Nintendo will now be competing with Microsoft in two places:
Game systems and Computer systems.

That's a really cool merger, but it would create way too many butterflies to predict a possible outcome. Mac is still 7 years off from creating the sleek and futuristic look that it's known for. The ipod and iphone would probably be butterflied off into oblivion as well. And of course, Steve Jobs isn't there after leaving in 1985 (and we all know Steve Jobs IS mac:rolleyes:).
