A vegetarian mainstream Christian denomination

I think we need to consider the nutritional implications of this. I mean, in a modern world, it's fairly easy to get everything the body needs and still maintain a vegetarian diet. But would it be possible for somebody back in the middle ages to stay healthy without the occasional dose of meat?
 
Vegetarianism isn't too hard in any context, it's veganism that really amps up the difficulty level as far as diet goes. Hindus and Buddhists have pulled it off...

Maybe there could be a South Asian Christian sect that develops? Maybe you start with an early POD that Christianizes Mohammad and has him lead a converting army east so as to avoid established Christian states he's (nominally?) loyal to. The Arabs set themselves up as a Christian empire in India, which absorbs local traditions and we have a *Sikhs with Hindu vegetarianism and Christian ideas of salvation?
