A Tremendous Mistake- A New England Patriots TL

Seems flacco is not elite yet and Giants won as OTL , still Nice sttaford having a team don't leave him down.

So the Manning sweepstakes Will begin

And Brady? he learned now NFC is not AFC? and even if Lions is not the pats...he is on the fiercest Division with Packers Lions and Vikes.

2012-2013 NFL Season

The offseason saw a whirlwind surrounding the Indianapolis Colts and Peyton Manning. They’d release him after his troubling neck nerve injury and before long the Denver Broncos would pick him up and they were quick favorites in the AFC. The Colts would draft Andrew Luck from Stanford to replace him, NFL fans were shocked that both Manning and Brady changed teams.

The start of the season saw the Patriots lose to the Tennessee Titans, after Stafford went down with a leg injury in the first quarter, and the Titans took advantage by winning 24-10. Stafford would have a sprained ankle, and would miss Week two as well, where the Arizona Cardinals would upset the Patriots 20-17 after the Patriots’ kicker Stephen Gostkowski missed a tying 49 yard kick. Their woes would continue as Stafford missed his second game in a row, and the Baltimore Ravens would win 34-20.

Sitting at 0-3, bottom of the division, things looked bad for the Patriots. Stafford would finally heal and would come back to demolish the Buffalo Bills in Week 4, tossing 4 touchdowns in the team’s 45-21 win over the Bills. However, Peyton Manning would knock the team back down winning 35-24, and the Patriots would sit at 1-4. However, surviving a scare by the Seattle Seahawks winning on a last second field goal to get a 26-24 win, blowing out the New York Jets 38-14 and then another blowout over the St.Louis Rams 35-15, the team would get back on track going into the Bye Week at 4-4.

Another win over the Buffalo Bills at 27-23 and then winning a shootout with the Indianapolis Colts at 38-33, the Patriots would sit at 6-4 a decent lead for the AFC East. The Jets would again be no match for the Patriots, winning 35-17 and then the Miami Dolphins would also fall to the Patriots, as they’d be 8-4 pushing for a Bye Week in the playoffs as well. However, against the Houston Texans, Stafford would aggravate his ankle injury and would miss the second half as the Texans would win 17-13. He’d miss his third game of the season against the San Francisco 49ers and the team would lose 34-20 in his absence. However, Stafford would come back to defeat the Jacksonville Jaguars and Miami Dolphins both 27-17. The team would finish 10-6, sitting at the 4th seed in the AFC.

2012-2013 NFL Playoffs

A rematch with the Indianapolis Colts loomed for the Patriots in the Wild Card round, the home team would only be 4 and half point favorites, as many thought rookie Andrew Luck would have a run in him.

The first quarter saw both teams trade touchdowns and then field goals to go into the Second Quarter with a 10-10 tie. The Patriots would get two turnovers on Andrew Luck and the Patriots’ offense would take advantage by scoring touchdowns on both to get a 24-10 lead, the Colts would get a field goal before halftime to make the score 24-13 in favor of the Patriots after two quarters. The third quarter opened with the Colts scoring a touchdown, then intercepting Stafford on his first pass of the second half, and they’d score another touchdown to take a quick 27-24 lead. The rest of the quarter only saw the Patriots tie the game with a field goal, to have the game go into the final quarter tied 27-27. The Patriots would go ahead on a 51 yard field goal with 7 minutes remaining to give them a 30-27 lead. The Colts would begin to march down the field, however the Patriots defense would step up and get a 90 yard Pick Six to stuff the lead to 37-27 with 4 minutes to go. The Colts would get another touchdown, but would fail the onside kick and the Patriots would win another shootout with the Colts, this time 37-34.

The Patriots would travel to Denver to face the best team in the AFC in the Denver Broncos, being 10 point underdogs to them.

The Broncos showed why they’d be heavy favorites, as Peyton Manning would strike on his first two drives to get a quick 14-0 lead, before Von Miller would strip Stafford and Manning would get his third touchdown in the first 6 minutes as the lead would be an almost impossible 21-0 lead. The Second Quarter saw the lead be chipped into with 3 field goals by the Patriots, but Denver would score their own before the halftime break to have a 24-9 lead going into the second half. The Patriots would return the opening kickoff to make the score 24-16, before getting a turnover on Manning and then adding a field goal, as the score was quickly 24-19, as Bronco fans began to chew on their fingernails. However, Peyton Manning would take over leading a 9 minute drive that ended in a touchdown right before the end of the quarter, as the Broncos would go into the last quarter of play with a 31-19 lead. Stafford would fumble again due to another Von Miller sack, and the Broncos would return the ball to give them a 38-19 lead. Another long drive by Peyton Manning that would result in a touchdown saw the Patriots be down 45-19 with 2 minutes to go. They’d score another touchdown, but it was obviously too little too late, losing 45-26.

Super Bowl 47 saw the Denver Broncos hoist their first Lombardi since the Elway era, defeating the Atlanta Falcons 31-23, as Peyton Manning would lead the game winning drive to score with 20 seconds remaining.

Notes:
I liked how this season turned out, was thinking of them having win another bye week in the playoffs but decided to have them host a wild card game. The Super Bowl I changed as the Broncos probably would’ve been Super Bowl champs if it wasn’t for Rahim Moore that year, so decided to give it to them. The 9ers also don’t make it as Alex Smith never gets injured in this TL. So enjoy as always.

I think 49ers would have pulled it regardless smith was playing the best ball until his kansas city one that year, still at least the falcons didn't choke this time.
And Sttaford is one tought player, playing with injuries over injuries, nobody would take that.
And Brady? learning NFC is not the anaemic AFC and he is locked in the fiercest division he got left behind?

I was thinking of giving updates on the Lions during the updates, but I’ll probably list all their season outcomes at the end of the TL.

If I recall, the Falcons only lost by 3 or so in the NFC title game that year so having Smith start could mean just one little change that lets the Falcons sin, so it makes sense.

Why do I get the feeling Brady being there means the questionable Calvin Johnson call versus the zCowboys doesn't happen in 2014 and the Lions win the Super Bowl - over Stafford's Patriots? If Brady lasts that long - which he might. Having Calvin John there changes thigns a lot for Brady. WIth a QB like him, even though Stafford's good, it *might* improve things enough Johnson can have the first ever 2,000 yard receiving season.

Brady is important still but yeah that is something for later.

I would imagine the lions would do anything to protect brady and that make a side effect defense ail, and in a pass happy division(A-rod packers, cutler lions, Vikes were more rushing with AD) that might cost them but yeah is possible they could get a break year later on

2013-2014 NFL Season

There was a sense of urgency when it came to the New England Patriots for the first time in many, many years. Fans were getting restless with the yearly heartbreaking playoff exits and some were still losing their minds over trading Tom Brady, even if he’s only one playoff game in a Lions uniform, but don’t tell them that. Quarterback Matthew Stafford and Head Coach Bill Belichick had to prove themselves sooner rather than later.

Week One saw the Patriots escape Buffalo with a 24-23 win due to a last second field goal. However, week two saw an upset to the New York Jets due to their own Game Winning kick to lose 17-15. Week Three and Four saw two wins for the Patriots over NFC South opponents in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Atlanta Falcons, with a 34-20 comfortable win over the Bucs and a 21-3 comeback over the Falcons. Losing a defensive battle to the Bengals, then to the Saints due to Stafford not being able to match Brees, saw the team quickly drop down to .500, with many questions in the air. The Patriots would lose to the Jets again due to Stafford turning the ball over in OT to set up the second game winning field goal for the Jets. Sitting a 3-4, many fans began to turn on Stafford saying his experiment was up. An overreaction, but what else do Boston fans do?

Two wins over the Miami Dolphins and Pittsburgh Steelers, both with last minute drives to win 26-19 and 31-27 respectively, saw the team go into their week off with a 5-4 record, sitting behind the Jets and close with the first wild card spot in the AFC. However, a freak accident would happen in practice where Stafford would be running out of bounds would slip on something on the sidelines and would tear his ACL and would immediately be out for the season. Belichick would name Ryan Mallett as the starter for the rest of the season.

His first start against the Carolina Panthers didn’t go to plan. Having 5 turnovers, 3 interceptions and 2 fumbles, they’d lose the game 42-21. Peyton Manning didn’t show the team any mercy and would defeat the Patriots with almost ease 49-18. 5-6, the season was almost all but over for the Patriots. A loss to the Houston Texans wouldn’t reassure the team and fans, as they’d lose in OT 20-17. However, two easy wins over the Cleveland Browns and Miami Dolphins at 28-13 and 20-9 would see them make one final desperate push for the division with a 7-7 record. That was until Week 16 where the Baltimore Ravens would dominate on defense to lead the 42-17 victory. A meaningless Week 17 win over the Buffalo Bills saw the Patriots finish at a .500 record of 8-8.

2013-2014 NFL Playoffs

The AFC saw the Denver Broncos repeat as Champions, thanks in large part to Peyton Manning’s play. A Divisional Round win over their divisional rivals Kansas City Chiefs 24-14, and the AFC Championship win over Manning’s former team of the Indianapolis Colts 31-23, due to Manning marching down the field to put the team up by 8 with 1:12 to go.

The NFC saw the young upstart Seattle Seahawks ride their defense to a NFC Championship win, their first Super Bowl Appearance since Super Bowl 40. Defeating the New Orleans Saints 23-15 in the Divisional Round and defeating divisional rivals San Francisco 49ers 23-17, the birth of ‘Crabtree sorry’ memes thanks to Richard Sherman’s postgame interview.

Super Bowl 48 saw the Seattle Seahawks defeat the Denver Broncos 35-28, thanks to the Seahawks punching the ball in at the goalline with Marshawn Lynch to take the lead with 32 seconds to go.

Notes:
Injuries comeback to haunt the Patriots this season, as Stafford as a similar injury to Tannehill/Bridgewater/Watson with a practice ACL tear. The Super Bowl I decided to have be the same, but have it be a shootout instead of a blowout. Enjoy as usual.

So Peyton never got flu and maybe Fox use his brain here...not bad, a shame what happened to Sttaford...
