In the Serbo-Bulgarian War of 1885, one of the most spectacular defeats of any nation in world history, the Bulgarian armed forces bested the Serbians in a two-week campaign. Bulgarian troops kept pushing on after the rout, but Austro-Hungarian diplomats admonished them to cease their movements or the Bulgarians would soon be facing their legions in combat. In OTL, the Bulgarians had the sense to stop. What if, by some fluke of fate, the Bulgarians continue in the hope that Russia will intervene if Austria-Hungary declares war.
They do.
So, how do the dominoes fall about thirty years before OTL's WWI (before the Boer War, the Balkan Wars, the Russo-Japanese War--and with Queen Victoria still alive!)? How would alliances come into place?
