A Successful Bay of Pigs: Told in Newspaper Articles

There has been a lot of success in using newspaper articles to tell the story of the Russo-Chinese War and Central Powers win World War I.

How about we use the same method with a POD in which the Bay of Pigs invasion succeeds?

Anyone want to start?

UN Protests American Bombings

Numerous UN Ambassadors have voiced criticism of the US governments allegeded bombings of major airfields in Cuba. These comments come two days after the American ambassador to the UN, Adlai Stevenson, swore that the United States Air Force was not involved around Cuba. However, the ambassador from the USSR claims that USAF heavy bombers were assaulting Cuban military bases. These accusations come shortly after reports of Cuban Exiles storming the beach on the Southern Cuban coast.

Che was known to be very brave. The angry mob would be more likely to kill the prisoners because many of them were Batista goons who had commited serious crimes against the Cuban people such as torture and murder. 20,000 people were killed by Batista's accomplices.

How does The Bay of Pigs work? If ever there was a doomed operation...

I would be interested to see how the plan, and the invasion is different ITTL without the cliche "don't cancel the second bombing raid" idea.

Anyway, to continue the general theme of this work.

Anybody run when a pitchfork (or the local equvivalent) wielding mob comes. The article doesn't state if CIA bribed the mob or if they thought the communists where just as bad.

How does The Bay of Pigs work? If ever there was a doomed operation...

The real irony is that Castro came to power with a similar operation, only roughly 10 times smaller...

They might hunt Raul. But they wouldn't find him. (And I have no idea how the Soviets named their submarines beyond Red October, or for that matter how a Soviet newspaper might repport)
