A strange turn of events .

The tread works this way .I will post the original POD and from there you can add the next part of the TL .The only things you can`t add are ASB and Sci-Fi plot devices .Sorry no alien invasions or wizard attacks .As long as it seems plausible to you and follows the two rules you can do whatever you want and when another post he has to use your post as a basis .Thus this might prove to be a rather fun TL to read and post on .I hope

Arthur`s successor .
Upon the death of Britons first king Arthur there arose a period of disorder as numerous warlords attempted to seize the throne .From the 620`s these struggles would dominate British histories .To the east the Saxons ,Angles and Jutes all began to encroach upon British territory won after Badon hill .While in the north and west Irish and Pictish invaders pillaged the countryside without opposition .This period of disorder was ended ubruptly by the coronation in about 635 of the General Maxius Audrelius who had managed to unite three small territories in the northern part of the country under his banner .And from there had expanded until Arthurs kingdom in it`s entirety was in his grasp .

The reign of Maxius Audrelius .
Once Audrelius had taken back what once was Arthurs from the barbarians that surrounded the kingdom he set about rebuilding infanstructure and town so that he could begin to rebuild the shattered Roman society that had been lost before Arthur in the time of Vortigern .These towns were defended by walls ,a necessity for a people who had to share their land with covetous and often murderous neighbors .For the most part none of the towns built by Audrelius were of a particularly great size .The biggest being Kent and London ,which had perhaps fifty thousand inhabitants by the end of his reign .
Also Audrelius put the army under his central command .No more would local military chiefs be able to oppose his authority .Nor would southern landowners be able to refuse to pay taxes and levies to the government .These reforms helped to boost the abilities and sized of the army .The armies makeup was also changed from being composed largely of mounted soldiers .To armed foot soldiers .They did not in the least resemble roman legionares ,as some modern films have shown .Nor did they resemble heavily armored knight of the late middle ages .But they were nonetheless a formidable force .And one that saw constant use in the north and west ,were large waves of Irish and Pictish settlers needed to be repulsed from British lands they had occupied during the recent civil war .By 647 this process of pushing back the barbarians was almost complete ,with just a few pockets of Picts managing to hold out against the British armies .
