We all know that Queen Anne was best friends with Sarah Churchill, courtesy of Anne, duchess of Marlborough. We also all know that Anne's only son, the Prince William, duke of Gloucester, died in 1700 leading to the eventual accession of the Hannoverian Monarchs 14 years later. Gloucester's governor was the then Earl of Marlborough, John Churchill - Sarah's husband and the victor of Blenheim.
Am I wrong in thinking that John and Sarah's only son, John "Jack" Churchill, Marquess of Blandford, might become - due to his father's employment as military governor to a surviving Gloucester - friends with Prince William? Maybe even to the extent of his mother's friendship with Anne? I realize of course that parents being friends doesn't always result in the children being friends, but, I thought of giving it a whirl.
*The POD is the survival of Gloucester and of Blandford.
