A Second Chance (A Music What-If Thread)

Pick a band/musician who faded into one hit wonder (or worse) obscurity. Bonus points if you detail the ramifications of their success.

However, there's mega bonus points if their success contributes positively to their genre.

I'll start:

Band: Autograph
Genre: Hard Rock, Glam Metal

Following from the smash hit Sign In Please, Autograph kept the good times rolling with the sophomore That's The Stuff and adapted to the tough early 90's musical climate starting with the heavy, yet melodic Loud and Clear.

However, it was the seminal Missing Piece that truly launched the band into stardom. In recent years, music critics point to Autograph as the band who kept Glam alive during the Grunge years.

(I couldn't resist this one; I'm a huge fan :D).

Have you heard of Black N Blue?

band:Black N Blue

Genre Glam Metal , Heavy Metal

How Come:following their success with Black N Blue their next album kept to a rougher sound with Without Love peaking at #40 on the Charts Their 3rd album Nasty, Nasty was a breakout hit with the ballad I'll be there, and the Hard Rocker Nasty Nasty the tour opening for Motley Crue caused Album sales to be 3x platinum and the previous albums went double platinum with Chains around Heaven and Hold on to 18. Their next album In Heat was criticized as too poppy but it went Platinum. They broke up in 1990.

Shortino (Paul Shortino)

Genre: Melodic Rock

Following on from his success with Glam legends Rough Cutt, Shortino is currently touring his multi-platinum record Chasing My Dream which displayed a more mature, thoughtful side of the former Dio disciple. His success opened the doors for various solo albums of Hard Rock musicians including Steve Plunkett and Eddie Van Halen.
