So while I was laying in bed this morning, not wanting to get up, I thought of this idea and figured I'd post it.

Before I go on let me say that, yes I'll be the first to say this is very unlikely to happen, but none-the-less I think it's atleast possible* given the right circumstances.

As we all know France had its first Revolution in the late 18th century, shortly after America's.
Here's where the first PoD would be, let's say that the Revolution manages to be less of a disaster than it was and France manages to become a stable Republic without the extremists gaining ground.

Secondly, let's say that circumstances during the American Revolution are different, and Quebec joins the Revolution, leading to a situation where the newly formed United States comprises all of what would be British North America at the time.
Now, let's say that this, along with perhaps a different George III or British government leads to a Revolution in Britain itself (the Revolution could be a result of popular uprising or ignorant aristocrats getting people into a frenzy to oppose the government backfiring) with the establishment of a British Republic.

Now, let's say at some point in the first half of the 19th century France and Britain, feeling threatened and seeing each other as natural allies (the whole Franco-British rivalry being seen as 'a vile ploy used by the aristocracy and monarchy to keep people from focusing on the real problems') decide to Unite (to what degree would depend on further circumstances).
Europe of course is, to be blunt, likely going to be scared shitless as the two most powerful nations of the civilized world have not only merged, but have a system opposed to their own.

So, opinions, thoughts, Romans?

*If a barbarian on a horse can conquer most of the largest continent on Earth, a middle-class Corsican lacking full military skills can conquer most of Europe and get pretty far into Russia in the Winter before giving up or a random fruit seller in Tunisia can cause a Revolutionary wave, NATO involvement in Libya and the likely toppling of three of the most authoritarian regimes since Nazi Germany I don't see why this would be that impossible.
