In 475 AD the new Emperor Julius Nepos appoints Ecdicius son of the late Emperor Avitus as Magister Militum Praesentalis and Patrician... He asks him to fight Visigoths in Provence who were threatening to invade Italy after the disastrous battle near Rhone...
However he was recalled to Italy and replaced by Flavius Orestes... But the Emperor soon exchanged Provence for Auvergne to conclude peace...
Ecdicius then fled to the Burgudians whose submition had accepted few years earlier...
WI he had raised an army and rebelled against Julius Nepos and Orestes? He had the backing of the Burgundii and he could ally himself with Magister Militum per Galliae Syagrius...
