A Rather Silly WI - Western ”Cossacks”

Hussars were modelled on Cossacks, in the Polish and Hungarian armies

Of course they then transferred to the West and became a more generic name

Hussars had originated in Balkans. While they were some parallel to cossacks but hardly were connected.
There were both hussars and cossacks as different types of cavalry in Polish army.

The border reavers maybe? Trouble is the land they covered was a bit small...and once peace is secured between England and Scotland they're screwed.

Plus Polish hussars were totally different from more well known Hungarian hussars (even though both had same origin). Also name 'Jazda Kozacka' (cossack cavalry) was used simply for medium/light cavalry type, and didn't mean that it was recruited from Cossacks. After Cossack uprisings this cavalry type was renamed to 'Pancerni'.
