A Question About Romanov Succession

Let's say Grand Duke Michael becomes tsar in a TL when the Soviet uprising is destroyed / never happens.

Since his marriage was morganatic, any children he produced wouldn't inherit the throne. Who then, would succeed him? (consider that Nicholas II and his family are killed in the same way as OTL)

Nicholas II's cousin Cyrill Vladimirovich would be next on the line. If Cyrill dies before Michale then next on line is Cyrill's son Vladimir.

This gets real tricky. The Romanovs had always treated the Pauline laws as a sick joke. Alexander II had legitimized his children and planned to crown his wife

But after 1905 the Pauline laws became part of the fundamental laws. As such, Michael could be read out of the succession.

Cyril could also be out His mother wasn't Orthodox when he was born.

Such a reading would put Grand Duke Paul in line. However, he was removed following his second marriage.

All this leaves Grand Duke Dimitri Pavolvich, Paul's eldest son, with a plausible claim

Not wonder why nowadays there is so many lciamants when whole Pauline Law was so strict and overcomplicate.

Considering all of these rules any current claimant hardly would are suitable as tsar if monarchy would be restored under Pauline Laws.

If monarchy is restored after White victory on Russian Civil War it seems quiet likely that whole succession/qualification issues is re-checked.

I should have added that Michael claimed that none of the rules applied to him since, unlike the others, had held the title of heir to the throne before his marriage

In the end, you might need a zemsky sabor to sort it out

More likely some Romanov girl is forced to marry some general's line. Cannons speak
