A Protestant state in the Philippines

I am toying the idea of having the Gintu state in Luzon in my TL La Perla de Oriente to convert from Hindu-Buddhist faith to Protestantism, I am also toying have Mindanao partially convert to Protestantism, is it possible for any state in the OTL Philippines convert to Protestantism and how would that effect the external relations of those states knowing that majority in the Philippines is under spanish rule?

Since you're asking for a direct conversion from Hindu-Buddhism to Protestantism rather than Catholicism to Protestantism, that rules out US involvement after the American-Spanish War.

For any part of the Philippines to convert to Protestantism, it needs to be within the Dutch sphere of influence (in which case, the Filipinos would become Calvinists). Unfortunately, the Spanish would not stand for a Dutch-aligned, Protestant Filipino state, and as far as I can tell, the Dutch don't exactly have a good presence or interest in the Philippines. Not to mention the Dutch aren't nearly as keen at spreading their faith as the Iberians do and simply wanted to trade.

Actually, in my TL, the Indigenous population of Luzon got compressed to the Kingdom of Gintu.

Wut? I don't understand what you mean.

But as I said, Spain has every excuse to quash the 'Protestant heresy', the same way they could justify fighting the 'Moorish infidels'. A Protestant Filipino state at the border of their empire is a big issue for the Catholic Spaniards and Portuguese, particularly if it's being used as a haven by the Dutch VOC to raid their convoys.

What I said is that the indigenous population in Luzon that the Spanish conquered got evacuated to the Kingdom of Gintu.

Perhaps I would make it remain Hindu Buddhist.
