A POD involving Edward VIII

So something that I've been kicking around in my head recently is a POD involving Edward the VIII not abdicating either because he never meets Wallis or because his father forces him to settle down and marry before he dies.

Now if Edward stays on the throne the obvious thing I'm looking to make it affect is WWII and a Britain makes peace time line the problem is I don't really know enough about Edward to be sure how much of an affect him sticking around would be. His experiences of WWI would still be in place so he would lean towards appeasement but I'm not sure how much of his supposed fascist leanings showed before his abdication, steamed from Wallis in OTL or were the result of the poor relations with his family and the country in general after his abdication in OTL.

I'm heading for a Halifax as PM style peace in 1940 but really I want to know if anyone can provide more info on Edward and how he would affect British politics if he sticks around. Thanks for any insights you guys can offer :)

Yes, I am aware he does not set foreign policy but that does not mean that he can not have any affect on either public opinion or the opinion of ministers by what he says and does. For example Edward had already been known to make comments on political matters such as the plight of miners in South Wales which could raise the level of public awareness in the issue and would also have been more likely to do things like make state visits to Germany against the advise of the government.

Not being able to dictate policy does not mean that someone like Edward would not try to meddle and what I'm interested in trying to find out is how much he would try to meddle and what affect this might have.
