A penny for your thoughts

April 11 Ottawa Canada
Heres a penny for your thoughts said Arthur Bremer as he aimed the gun at Nixons limousine and fired. Four bullets were fired the first missed and hit a police officer the second one richocheted hitting a bystander the third went threw the limousine window hitting a secret service agent and the fourth hit President Nixon. The police officers gaurding the motorcade opened fire killing Bremer. Nixon was then rushed to the hospital were he died Spiro Theodore Agnew was now President.

What sort of gun is he using that can fire bullets powerful enough to penetrate the bulet-proof glass of the Presidential limo?

Just hid it in his coat.

Shortly after Nixons death White House Chief of Staff Bob Haldeman and Chief Domestic Advisor John Ehrlichman met to dicuss what would happen now that Nixon was dead. The two agreed to cancel the planned break-in at the DNC headquarters Haldeman saying that we dont need a burglary to win the election we already won it. Meanwhile the Democrats were in chaos with Governor George Wallace of Alabama winning Oregon and New Mexico while Senator George McGovern of South Dakota won California and Rhode Island. When the Democratic Convention met in July Wallace was narrowly nominated for President and Senator Birch Bayh of Indiana as Vice President. The Republican nominated President Agnew and Governor Nelson Rockefeller of New York as Vice President. On election day Agnew won reelection 515 to 22.

Very thin - you could try perhaps writing a few of these updates on Word or something and waiting 'til there's c. 1000-2000 words before you post an update.

Agreed.

You can't write this little. Do what the other TL's do in their length. Certainly it could be clunky, but at least you'd be trying and it would help your skill improve.

Why would Wallace win the Rhode Island primary?

Hmmm, Agnew's kickback scandal is unaffected by the POD. Some point in 1973/1974 it is going to explode in a big way and take Agnew down. We then have Nelson Rockefeller as President. The GOP would be in better shape than in OTL as the scandal would be more specific to Agnew personally as opposed to the entire White House/Party as in Nixon's case.

Expect Rockefeller to run for a term of his own in 76, however there would certainly be a Reagan challenge then and I would not be surprised if it was successful.

Those are two quick thoughts by me.

oooh nice pic there of a Boys rifle, 55 calibre but theres quite a few in the states converted to 50cal. If you want a large bullet with AP qualities then why not do it in style with Desert Eagle-oops post assassination-damn!

Going back to the initial premise: how did Bremer, a US citizen, get that weapon across the border? Granted, US/Canada border crossings approximately 40 years ago were, shall we say, rather casual and easygoing, but this still would take a bit of doing, I'd think--unless he came across at a lightly traveled port of entry where the customs officials weren't inclined to be more than cursory.
