A not-so-stupid peace

WI France had retained the Austrian Netherlands at the Treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle (1748)? Let's say it gives up Cape Breton in exchange.

If it's exchanged by Cape Breton, does it mean that Madras is stil held by the French? Or would it more likely that it would be traded together with Louisbourg for the Austrian Netherlands? BTW, would the British and the Dutch ever acept an arrangement that gives these territories to France?

How about if the Austrian Netherlands were partitioned between France and the Netherlands?

I'm not sure if receiving some Southern territories would make the Dutch accept the idea of having France as a neighbour. After all, what would stop the French from advancing the border further North? The lands there were just too useful to the Dutch as a buffer state.

Honestly the biggest winner would be the Habsburgs, they would lose their problem child, which even with it richness cost them more than the got, they could unite the minor German states against the French boogie man, but still save money in that they didn't need to defend a westen enclave against the French.

I would expect Madras to be returned.

France was in control, there's not much they could do about it. From what I understand, French willingness to pull back was rather unexpected (hence the title of the thread).
