A new take on the cliche "USA-Nazi Coldwar"....

Now the Marshall Plan was preformed to aid the economies of Europe after the 2nd World War, and had been a major part of the reason West Europe was richer than the Warsaw Bloc and their close relations with the USA.

Now with a Nazi ruled Europe, could there have been an alternate Marshall Plan of sorts to Latin America? What would the effects have been? And finally, would there have been a similiar effort towards the Chinese? (The Japanese wouldn't have been able to conquer it all, I presume.)

My first thought, seeing the headline, was that the US would prop up rump USSR (oo-er?) and that make sence as a continuation on lend-lease.

My first thought, actually, is that Germany trouncing the Soviets and the United States pwning Japan is that the Marshall Plan goes to China, India, and everyone else in Asia--including the badly abused Soviets. The Asian Marshall Plan will probably work wonders in Japan, less so in Korea, Taiwan and Siam, but with communism smashed and the United States obviously not going to support establishment of Axis aligned regimes in the region, players like Mohandas Gandhi and Ho Chi Minh will be given strong American Support.

The foremost problem with Latin America is that much of it probably will not have joined the war. Mexico, Brazil, Panama, and Venezula, sure. But the rest of the nations? While the point that US dollars are going to be deflected elsewhere is true, I'm unsure that it would be Latin America, over Asia, that gets US support. Its an interesting idea.

what for? MP was initiated because US gov't realised that countries with poor economy and large unemployment are easy targets for communist propaganda and they could become red (specially as communism was seen as good counterpoint to capitalism back then).

With Germany victorious why would there be need for similar program in Asia or Latin America? It's not likely that pro-German leadership will come in power there and if it happens in Latin America US could simply Pinochet it. People forget that unlike communism nazism had little appeal for people outside Europe so germany couldn't export it's ideology same way as SU did.

Now, depending on exact victory conditions, it's possible/likely such plan would be initiated for countries on the border of German zone (UK, SU, Mideast....) but not likely elsewhere.

Rethinking it, I suppose the US treatment of Latin Amerika OTL would be a model. They would most likely give some foreigen aid along general progressive principles (one could argue if it work or not) and they would support, or bribe if one prefer that word, the whole political spectrum with the exeption of the pro-nazis.

If the precived risk of a pro-nazi take over arise, they would support a local coup or invade.
