Both Tunisia and Morocco were in fact French protectorates with their own local "sultan" and were given independence in the 1950s. Algeria on the other hand had been conquered and was seen as integral part of France.And why is all of Algeria French, but the other former French colonies are independent? Either France retains all of its colonies, or just holds northern Algeria (settled by French).

I know it's ASB but HOW? It's a bit like Churchill's vision for post war Europe mixed up with the Morgenthau plan on Steroids. But it doesn't explain how De Gaulle can magically extend French influence outside the Soviet or American blocs.
The map looks like a Europe where the French Revolution meets the Cold War.
