Nope, IOTL Marocco and Tunisia were given independance *relatively* peceafully. the average Frenchmen didn't gave a shit about that. algeria by contrast was engrained in France subsconcious as a department or region just like Brittany or corsica.

And why is all of Algeria French, but the other former French colonies are independent? Either France retains all of its colonies, or just holds northern Algeria (settled by French).
Both Tunisia and Morocco were in fact French protectorates with their own local "sultan" and were given independence in the 1950s. Algeria on the other hand had been conquered and was seen as integral part of France.

Granted DeGaulle is specifically mentioned, but I am wondering if there is a pre-ww2 POD.

There were also many more colonists in Algeria than any other part of the empire.

>Brandenburg renamed Prussia
>historical Prussia under Poland and Soviet Union
>Saxony under a Prussian state without a Prussia

Jesus, what a map.

Prussia is the nickname of the the DDR because without a "West Germany" there's no sense in calling it "East Germany." Additionally the abolition of Prussia never happens, so in effect Prussia annexed Saxony and the other small states when the Soviets create their unitary state there.

I know it's ASB but HOW? It's a bit like Churchill's vision for post war Europe mixed up with the Morgenthau plan on Steroids. But it doesn't explain how De Gaulle can magically extend French influence outside the Soviet or American blocs.

It's less bleak than it looks. It's just that the German Lander never unite into a West German state and instead achieve sovereignty seperately. This is due to the Berlin Blockade ending in a Soviet political victory among other factors.

The map looks like a Europe where the French Revolution meets the Cold War.

That's what I was going for, especially with the Communist Bloc Austria-Hungary.
