A New Millenium, No 9/11- A Semi-Collaborative Timeline

Hello everyone, and welcome to my first timeline. This will detail a new 2000s from an overall standpoint, especially cultural. Now, I know there's a few no 9/11 timelines though mine will be different. This will also be semi-collaborative. I don't know much about politics and such so I can use help with elections and feedback in regards to what will be some cultural changes. I have some ideas, but having feedbakc and such will help them out.

By semi-collab, I mean that if you have suggestions, thoughts or such on how things should go, we can talk about it privately and discuss it as well as how it would be implemented!

All right then, here we go!

Prologue: Allah's Judgment

Undetermined Month, 2000

The sounds of shouting and arguing seem to dull in the ears of Osama bin Laden. He was so tired, he could barely even wipe the sweat from his brow. It seemed as if nothing was going well these past few months. They had begun planning their attack on the Americans when suddenly, some of the men began falling ill and more and more began doing so as well. There had been news going on a strange outbreak of sickness that have not been determined, but may have been the result of food poisoning, water tampering or some other reason. The fact that a few rescue workers from the West were also falling ill forced them to rule out poisoning.

They were forced to keep moving due to the sickness. Many of the sick men were forced to be left behind and it wasn't long before they were turned more and more away, out of fear the sickness would spread to their villages or towns. Supplies were running low and the cracks within Al-Queda began spreading, more and more. Whatever supplies they could raid were not the best, with some being even expired and brought the men to sickness.

In his growing delirium, Bin Laden could only call out to Allah, wondering why he was so close to death. And then, it hit him. The arguing between the men stopped as they saw their leader fall. In sweat and tears, in his sickness-induced delierium mixed with religious desperation, he cried out that this was Allah's judgment. Within the growing group of frenzy, many have felt doubt in their conviction and the arguing would've become worse had not Bin Laden collapsed.

Osama Bin Laden had died as a result of disease, food poisoning and some dehyrdation to boot. Had he been queit, then perhaps some form of leadership could be restored. But his final words were of desperation. That this suffering they were going through was because of Allah... that he was punishing them. The newer recruits and the doubtful took this to realize that this punishment was the result of their plans to attack the Americas. While the hardliners tried to remain reinforced, the cracks grew bigger and the in-fighting grew more and more. After all, the sickness and misfortune began when they made the plans.

The organization began tearing itself and as news of Osama's last words and death spread, more and more people distanced themselves from the organization, taking it to believe that this was Allah's judgment as it was put. Others denied involvement and others even wondered if the plan would've ever succeeded.

By the middle of 2001, Al-Queda was a shell of its former self. Factions have split off to try and form their own, only to fall within months or war with one another.

A Simple Tuesday Morning

September 11, 2001

The Bush Administration tax cuts were something that they have long dreamed of implementing and they have. Unfortunately, there was little else that could be done. The loss of the popular vote remained a point of contentio and furthermore, the decade seemed to start by pretty slowly. Furthermore, there was the sense that they still needed to go to the Middle East. In fact, they recieved some news, but some surprising ones.

Osama Bin Ladan was dead.

He had died sometime last year from a mix of dehydration, food poisoning and what would eventually be revealed to be some sort of mutated flu virus that spread throughout the rural aspects of Afghanistan. Furthermore, when a squad was sent in to check, they found that not only was he gone, but that so was most of Al-Queda. By now, there were some stories that the sickness spread and ended up ruining morale and causing enough friction to cause in-fighting. In addition, the fear of the spread of sickness denied them the usual safe havens. There was little to be found outside of what were the crude beginnings of a rough plan to attack the United States. However, most were quite flimsy and of little substance.

There would be no attack on US soil, they said with their thoughts. Indeed, by this time, most of the more radical groups have become placated for now. Least enough not to consider an attack, especially with the circumstances behind it. Regardless, it was a pretty beautiful day for the most part on this September 11.

Some of the neocons were raring for a reason to go after Iraq, but it's not like a war coming out of nowhere would bring support. It would probably tarnish the presidency.

((The first big thing coming up will be the Enron scandal, which I think will define things. There will also be some pop culture effects and phenomenon. Feel free to suggest what can be added!))
