A new Cold War scenario.

An Alternate history of the Cold War,
What if the Cold war following the historic events of WW2, was to be a bit more different?

After WW2 the Allies went into a state of freezing relations towards eachother, just as historically. The only difference was this time the absence of the reformatist Chrustjov, who did not succeed Stalin, after his death in 1953, but a new hardliner as new Soviet leader appeared in the from of Beria, Stalins only long time ally in Russia. Beria always had been slightly more radical than Stalin, although not that obvious paranoid and evil as his master. His rise to power was in the background, while Stalin himself was the prominent leading figure.

With the new leadership in Moscow, the events in Europe and the rest of the world would likely have been more different, than historically. To name a few: the Hungarian Rebellion, the Prague Spring revolt, Cuba Crisis, Vietnam War, China vs USSR border disputes, etc. What would the most likely history of the Cold War be, considering Beria did not have to live forever and would likely be succeeded by another hardliner, such as Bresnjev?
